RebbeSoul in Tel Aviv

Arts and culture are always at a peak in the city that never sleeps. Tel Aviv’s reputation in the past decade or so has risen again, with new generations of artists and intellectuals drawn to the city’s vibrant scene. Its popularity among world travelers, who spend time in Tel Aviv hotels to get to know one of the world’s more interesting cities, doesn’t hurt in attracting more artist residents. There is always a ready crowd to play for. It’s not simply a crowd that’s in town to see the beach, although it certainly is one of the loveliest coasts anywhere.

People come to the city for a number of reasons, but nearly everyone who sets foot here has some degree of interest in world culture. This is the big draw for some of the local musicians, and it also attracts people like RebbeSoul , who moved to Israel a few years ago for the promise of the world music scene. To say that there are people like him is actually rather disingenuous. The musician who recorded Change the World with a Sound is a true original. His laid-back persona is welcoming and relaxing, and it starts to shift in a way that can only be described as mercurial. As the music starts to work its way into the bloodstream of the room, he begins to become something of a wizard, blending pop rhythms with old Hebrew songs until the space is transformed into a world that remarkably resembles a place called Right Now.
